2025 Village of Camillus Newsletter

There were several changes in our village during 2024 and we had a few in 2025 which we have highlighted below. 

TextMyGov

TextMyGov is a new type of communication between you, our residents, and the village. We initiated this in early 2023 with much success, however several of you have not taken advantage of this communication device.

On your personal electronic device (cell phone, Android, Apple, etc.), you will be able to receive text messages from the village concerning event notifications, holiday information, trash and recycling information, road information, etc. We will be sending out to you any information that we feel is important and that you would be interested in. You will also be able to text information to the village with any Village concerns.

To sign up, on your smartphone, send a text message to 91896 and in the message space, type in the following “CVALERTS”. You will receive a confirmation message asking you to reply “YES” to verify that you are joining. You will then start to receive text messages from us in the future when they are sent. You can also text the village by texting in the number 315-320-3353 and text “HI”. You can text STOP at any time to remove yourself from the notification line.

Munro Park

Senator John Mannion sponsored the Village for a grant to build new playground equipment and pavilion. The proximity of the pavilion enables parents to sit and watch the kids while they are enjoying the new equipment. This year we hope to be installing a sidewalk from the playground to the parking lot with grant funding. 

2025 Village Meeting Dates

We encourage residents to attend our village meetings. The following are the meeting dates for 2025 which start @ 5:00 P.M.

June 2 & 16 July 21 August 18

September 15 October 6 & 20 November 5 & 17

December 1 & 15

Village Hall and highway department will be closed on the following holidays:

May 26* September 1*  November 11*  December 25   

July 4 October 13*  November 27 

*When trash day falls on a holiday, trash and recycling will be delayed one day.

Recent Village Law Changes

In 2024, we changed/modified a few laws in the village as follows. The abbreviated summaries are listed below.

Law to Amend Property Tax Exemptions for Persons With Disabilities & Limited Incomes – For further information please contact the Village Office.

Trash – Update Chapter 61 entitled Solid Waste, Litter, Hauler Regulation and Borrow Policy - See Attached Trash Law and Rules

Truck Rental – The one-ton village truck may be rented by Village of Camillus residents for a fee of $100.00 plus tipping fees for the removal of construction and demolition materials and $150.00 plus tipping fees (minimum of $30.00 charge) for the removal of upholstered furniture. If interested, please call 315-672-3484 or visit Village Hall during business hours for a contract.

Mattress Removal – The mattress removal fee has increased to $25.00. This can be paid in advance of a scheduled pickup with cash or check made payable to the Village of Camillus and dropped off or mailed to Village of Camillus, 37 Main Street, Camillus, NY 13031. 

Village Wide Sale – September 6th .

Family Day at Munro Park – On Saturday, July 19th the Camillus Chamber of Commerce will hold a Family Day in Munro Park from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for kids. There will be a Bounce House, Magician and a Balloon Stylist along with kids from the local Town Shop doing Face Painting. The Camillus Fire Department will be selling food and the Chamber of Commerce will have booths with many giveaways. Plan for a good time.

HELP ANIMALS IN NEED

Donate your bottles & cans at the Village Hall. A volunteer redeems the bottles & cans & uses funds to purchase food & other requested supplies which is then donated to various agencies who care for animals waiting for their “forever homes”. 

We would like to Thank You for your generous donations. Last year we redeemed $1,010.85 in bottle returns.
